摘要: Fifty-five mg per kg live weight of crystallized Yucca schidigera saponins, corresponding to 26 mg/kg sapogenins, was given daily intraruminally two lambs for 11 consecutive days. Neither the showed any sign toxicity throughout experimental period. One lamb killed 5 h after last dose and GC-MS analysis free conjugated sapogenin content samples liver, contents rumen, omasum, abomasum, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, colon rectum, faecal collected before dosing started, parts administered saponin were performed. The material contained mainly sarsasapogenin smilagenin saponins. Ingested saponins quickly hydrolysed in rumen sapogenins and, part, epimerized at C-3 afford episapogenins. absorption appeared occur jejunum. metabolism identical that Narthecium ossifragum it is suggested could replace N. studies on latter plant.
