摘要: Objective: Infections caused by multidrug resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii (ACB) are an increasing global problem. This review identifies and summarizes available research concerning resource utilization associated with MDR ACB, assesses strengths weaknesses of the published future priorities. Methods: A structured literature using MEDLINE enhanced search reference lists was conducted. Included articles reported on or costs described ACB patients compared cases to controls. Controls included susceptible other organisms, uninfected patients. Initial searches returned 204 potential citations for review. Title abstract excluded 171 articles, full text 23 additional leaving a total 10 eligible data abstraction The remaining reviewed. Data characteristics studies outcomes interest were collected organized into summary tables. All reviewed second reviewer. Results: Patients had longer length stay (LOS) than control groups across all studies, though findings not always statistically significant. Within intensive care unit settings, LOS differences significant in two three studies. Hospital charges higher, sometimes significantly so, among Conclusion: There consistent trend towards worse economic (longer LOS, higher costs) versus Given variety study types settings lack multivariate analyses, there is considerable need
