摘要: Avian bycatch, a common and undesired occurrence in small mammal studies, should be minimized by researchers. We examined effects of trap covering, treadle color (copper or yellow plastic), size (mouse rat), weathering (traps <1 yr ≥ 1 old) on avian bycatch during 3 years. found that covered traps caught 81% fewer birds 70% mammals than did uncovered traps, mouse 30% more 38% rat no capture differences for weathering. Covered effectively reduced used when small-mammal rates are acceptable.
