摘要: Abstract Ti–Al–N coatings exhibit considerable mechanical and thermal properties, which make them promising candidates for advanced machining other high temperature application. Here, the effect of Zr addition on structure, properties deposited by industrial cathodic arc evaporation system is studied. Furthermore, we researched application Ti–Al–Zr–N coated inserts with varied bias from − 50 to − 150 V. Addition leads a structural transition cubic mixed cubic–hexagonal, an increased hardness ~ 31.2 33.1 GPa. The value ~ 35.8 GPa coating after annealing at 1000 °C indicates improved stability. Oxidation experiments yield fully oxidized 16 h 850 °C, whereas only forms layered oxide scale ~ 1.0 μm. Therefore, performance in continuous turning obtained insert. Increasing deposition favors growth thereby results structure cubic–hexagonal finally single phase With consideration its hardness, defect densities, stress cohesion substrate, − 100 V behaved best both milling.
