摘要: PURPOSE OF REVIEW To summarize and reflect over primarily recent epidemiological randomized controlled trials in opioid-treated chronic nonmalignant pain patients, focusing on effects, side risks long-term consequences of the treatment. RECENT FINDINGS In western world opioids are increasingly being used for treatment pain. While benefits regarding relief, functional capacity health-related quality life still remain to be proven, studies emerging that describe serious such as addiction, opioid-induced hyperalgesia, cognitive disorders, suppression immune reproductive systems. SUMMARY Much more research is needed concerning long-time effects opioid therapy patients; however, some clear warning signals have been sent out within years.
