摘要: Regional scale mass balance models are valuable tools for describing the fate of chemicals in areas with defined and fairly homogeneous environmental characteristics chemical use patterns. These often show that contaminant inflows from outside region interest significant compared local emissions. This is most likely persistent those efficiently transported air or water. As a result regional levels contamination controlled by external factors meaningful evaluation requires assessment neighboring regions. A linked set thus has potential to describe quantitatively impact emissions over wider geographic spatial differences We here national contaiminant model Canada based on existing 24-region ChemCAN model. The ecological regions, which were previously treated individually, flows water deduced GIS analysis provide comprehensive description entire country, including long-range transport between applied national-scale three Canada, benzene, trichloroethene, diethylhexyl phthalate, exploiting interpretation presentation results. Agreement predicted multimedia concentrations measured values satisfactory all chemicals. In total this work represents an initial attempt address different processes both linking using as tool data management.
