摘要: Hydrogen sulfide (H(2)S) generated from C&D debris landfills has emerged as a major environmental concern due to odor problems and possible health impacts landfill employees surrounding residents. Research was performed evaluate the performance of various cover materials control measures for H(2)S emissions landfills. Twelve laboratory-scale simulated columns containing gypsum drywall were operated under anaerobic conditions promote production. Five different placed on top waste inside duplicate columns: (1) sandy soil, (2) soil amended with lime, (3) clayey (4) fine concrete (particle size less than 2.5 cm), (5) coarse greater cm). No two columns, which used controls. concentrations measured middle layer ranged 50,000 150,000 ppm. The demonstrated varying removal efficiencies. lime most effective emissions. Both exhibited reduction efficiencies 99%. soils lower efficiencies, average 65% 30%, respectively. found be least efficient material result its large particle size.
