摘要: A structure, e.g., a photonic band gap material, exhibiting substantial periodicity on micron scale is provided. Fabrication involves the steps of providing template comprising colloidal crystal, placing in an electrolytic solution, electrochemically forming lattice high refractive index and then removing crystal particles to form desired structure. The electrodeposition provides dense, uniform lattice, because formation material begins near conductive substrate, for example, growth occurs substantially along plane moving single direction, normal substrate. Moreover, grown three-dimensionally interconnected solid, there very little shrinkage upon subsequent treatment.
