摘要: This paper provides basic concepts of genomic selection (GS) methods in beef and dairy cattle production combination with assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as ovum-pick up vitro (OPU-IVP). We first introduce tools discuss main GS practiced todate. The general benefit from is that it enables selecting animals accurately early life using predictions particularly those phenotypes are very difficult or expensive to measure. While known increases genetic gain profit conventional breeding, much more desirable when combined OPU-IVP production. expected benefits GS-OPU-IVP far exceed the achieved by either alone mainly due tremendous reduction generation interval. improvement will increase even further, if merit donor cows bulls used for key economic traits maximal. also highlights some challenges regard embryo biopsies quantity quality DNA whole genome genotyping ways overcome difficulties. briefly somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) technique context applying on fibroblast lines fetuses obtained techniques provide our perspectives how might pave way rapid improvement. Main conclusion employing ARTs OPUIVP embryos coupled sexing SCNT lead dissemination high a scale never been seen before. Finally, outlines current research activities advanced GIFT project consortium (www.gift.ku.dk).
