The atraumatic restorative treatment (ART) strategy in Mexico: two-years follow up of ART sealants and restorations

摘要: The massive use of preventive measures in Mexico has resulted a large decline dental caries over the past two decades. There does however remain largely unmet need for restorative treatment. This paper describes steps leading up to adoption strategy, as part general health policy, Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) within Mexican public service means addressing this. objective was evaluate ART restorations and sealants placed primary permanent teeth schoolchildren from deprived areas period 2 years. 18 Dentists 13 municipalities 6 states with lowest human development index treated 304, 6- 13-year-old (single-surfaces) on school compounds. Ketac Molar Easymix filling material used. procedures were evaluated according assessment criteria after 1 2 years, by 7 calibrated evaluators. Survival rates estimated, using PHREG Model frailty correction. 2-year cumulative survival fully partially retained 73.1% (primary teeth) 48.8% (permanent teeth). dentine carious lesion failure 0% 2.5%, respectively. single-surface 74% 80.9%, Secondary occurred restored (2.1%) one tooth (1.3%). All state survived, whilst those 5 remaining failed statistically significantly more than other 4. substantial quality had prevented extent new lesions these children socio-economically areas.
