摘要: During the early stages of sporulation, a subpopulation Bacillus subtilis cells secrete toxins that kill their genetically identical siblings in process termed cannibalism. One these is encoded by sdpC gene sdpABC operon. The active form SDP toxin 42-amino-acid peptide with disulfide bond which processed from an internal fragment pro-SdpC. factors required for processing pro-SdpC into mature are not known. We provide evidence secreted via general secretory pathway and signal cleavage step production SDP. also demonstrate SdpAB essential to produce SDP, has activity. Our data indicate secretion, translation, or stability SdpC. Thus, may participate posttranslation contains bond. while does increase activity it formed independently SdpAB. Taken together, our suggest multistep likely controlling, directly indirectly, precursor.
