摘要: In order to alleviate the current food security situation world is faced with, it essential investigate meat sources which have potential be used in a sustainable manner. This review provides substantial argu- ments prove viability of sport hunted wildfowl as source Southern Africa. However, before use can realised, there are certain challenges overcome ensure best possible quality reaches consumer. Important aspects consider regarding eating identified and include physical activity different portions muscle fibre types, diet, breeding, age gender well post mortem handling/ageing meat. The safety issues involved producing gamebird i.e. shot contamination (microbial or lead), also discussed. Other areas that warrant scientific research investigating intrinsic extrinsic factors may an influence on ultimate exploring techni- ques improving insights these investigations will provide increase commercial viability, directly indirectly, African thus contribute security.
