Small‐Scale Acoustic Streaming in Liquids

摘要: By using special acoustical and optical arrangements, vortex motions are discovered in the vicinity of small vibrating sources liquids. Of particular importance is vigorous eddying that typically takes place near a gas bubble when it rests on boundary. This bubble‐associated streaming has been observed under variety circumstances, apparently occurs quite generally. Especially violent chaotic appear bubbles resonant size. The attendant highly localized convection viscous stresses probably very important as intermediate physical mechanisms for sonic irradiation effects.
