摘要: Purpose To determine the prevalence of focal inner, middle, and combined inner/middle retinal thinning (FIRT, FMRT, FCRT, respectively) in different stages diabetic retinopathy (DR) without macular edema to assess relationship between such findings with ocular systemic parameters. Methods This was a cross-sectional, comparative study comprising healthy participants patients DR. Forty-nine horizontal B-scans from selected eye were obtained using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) analyzed for presence FIRT, or FCRT any Focal (FRT) subjectively defined as evidence inner and/or middle thinning. Results A total 190 (52 138 patients) included. higher FRT observed eyes advanced DR versus no mild FIRT significantly greater proliferative treated pan-retinal photocoagulation, FMRT more common severe nonproliferative coronary artery disease positively correlated diabetes duration, serum creatinine, glycosylated hemoglobin negatively age, estimated glomerular filtration rate, visual acuity. Conclusions occurs all is increasingly prevalent increasing severity Translational Relevance OCT identification may provide surrogate biomarker patients.
