摘要: Abstract The single crystals of terbium trifluoromethanesulfonate nonahydrates Tb(CF 3 SO ) ·9H 2 O (TbTFMS) were grown and the principal magnetic susceptibilities measured from 300 K down to 13 K, for external field orientations both parallel perpendicular c -axis which is symmetry axis this hexagonal crystal. non-Kramers ion Tb 3+ occupies a site C 3h in uniaxial susceptibilities, observed by us Friedberg group, over range temperature, 300 ∼1.0 K, are explained very well theoretical expressions susceptibility obtained crystal perturbed J-mixed eigenvectors with due consideration intermediate coupling effects. No noticeable ordering effects ∼13 K; indicates interionic interactions be weak, being predominantly dipolar type, consistent detection ferromagnetic transition at T ∼ 0.24 K group. g -values derived other sources also reasonably accounted for. energy level structure predicts Schottky anomaly heat capacity around 0.23 K, agrees that et al.; another peak appears 48 K. One interesting aspect present analysis almost all features magnetic, thermal optical properties TbTFMS high temperatures as liquid helium could quite satisfactorily CF alone. Present suggests two singlets lie lowest whose separation 0.37 cm −1 ; profoundly influences properties. interaction nuclear spin electric gradient hyperfine has been discussed.
