Short-term Effects of Mitomycin C Infiltration for Caustic Oesophageal Strictures in Children.

摘要: OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety endoscopic local infiltration mitomycin C (MMC) after oesophageal dilation for children suffering from refractory postcorrosive stricture (OS). METHODS Children referred Cairo University Specialized Paediatric Hospital with OS during period March 2016 August 2017 were included in study. MMC infiltrated endoscopically at site by end session. measured outcomes dysphagia score (DS) periodic index (PDI). RESULTS During inclusion presented study, 17 met criteria. There 7 boys 10 girls. follow-up period, an average 3.8 sessions per case performed, using a total dose 1 mg each median 9.5 months. DS improved 3 before application 0 last (P < 0.001). Additionally, PDI declined 1 0.75 (P = 0.052). Sixteen cases (94%) became free 6 Seven patients experienced postdilation minor bleeding that spontaneously resolved, not triggering blood transfusion. no infiltration-related complications series. CONCLUSION Stricture-site session proved be safe effective improving PDI.
