摘要: This article follows up on claims made the motivating role of national commemorations for young people’s political participation. Cross-sectional data from a Dutch adolescent panel are utilised to focus commemoration activity popular amongst people in Netherlands, and empirically test what extent participation Liberation festivals adults (aged 19–20 years old) is associated with their inclinations vote. To examine whether association spurious, several factors previously identified as important determinants citizens’ broader civic engagement are accounted for, including parental communication about issues, citizenship activities offered at school, involvement voluntary organisations, various sociodemographic characteristics. Although relationship between festival attendance voting intentions partially explained by more general socialisation process, indicated by, others, work, results show that positively intentions. Moreover, individuals different educational trajectories or socioeconomic backgrounds have similar chances attending festivals, highlighting potential promote all equally. At same time, less often attended youth identifying non-Dutch ethnic background, thereby risking reinforcing gaps engagement without migration background.
