Poly(styrene sulfonic acid) sodium modified nanofiltration membranes with improved permeability for the softening of highly concentrated seawater

摘要: Abstract Poly(styrene sulfonic acid) sodium salt (PSSS)/polypiperazine-amide nanofiltration (NF) membrane and PSSS/SiO 2 /polypiperazine-amide NF were prepared by interfacial polymerization of piperazine (PIP) trimesoyl chloride (TMC) on polyethersulfone (PES) supporting membrane. Effect PSSS silica concentrations discussed. The active surface the was characterized using SEM AFM. results showed that PSSS/polypiperazine-amide under optimum conditions exhibited Na SO 4 rejection 96.1% water flux with 55.7 L m − 2  h − 1 at operation pressure 0.6 MPa. , MgSO MgCl NaCl follows a decreasing in order 96.1%, 85.2% 45.4% 21.1% respectively. After addition 0.2% (w/v) aqueous phase, increased 42.7% compared only polypiperazine-amide shows promising capability for softening highly concentrated seawater from 8–20 wt.%.
