Trace-element contents and cathodoluminescence of “trapiche” rubies from Mong Hsu, Myanmar (Burma): geological significance

摘要: ¶Mong Hsu rubies of the “trapiche” type are sporadically seen in gem market. However, they have never been described field. The study nature solid inclusions, variation trace-element contents, as well cathodoluminescence behaviour six permit conclusion that these crystallised same geological environment (marble-type deposit) normal from Mong Hsu: (1) Cr and V main chromophorous elements both ruby types; act, together with Ti, activators or quenchers for cathodoluminescence; (2) calcite, dolomite, rutile, mica, diaspore, apatite, chlorite, feldspar inclusions found (3) presence bastnasite trapiche fluorite non-trapiche indicates circulation F-bearing fluids during deposition; (4) distribution contents crystal is similar types. In Cr2O3 vs. Fe2O3 Fe2O3/TiO2 diagrams, population fields non-“trapiche” overlap. They distinct those sapphires hosted basalts South-east Asia.
