Brazing SiC matrix composites using Co-Ni-Nb-V alloy

摘要: Co-13.5Ni-16.2Nb-10 V (wt.%) filler alloy was designed for joining silicon carbide (SiC) matrix composites, including Cf/SiC and SiCf/SiC composites. The wettability of the Co-Ni-Nb-V on two kinds composites studied by sessile drop method. After heating at 1573 K 20 min, new exhibited a low contact angle 18° 2° composite, respectively. interfacial microstructure investigated SEM equipped with EDS. At interface between composite brazing alloy, sandwiched reaction band VC/NbC/VC formed. In case SiCf/SiC, only VC formed interface, signifying that activity Nb lower than V. elements Co Ni mainly existed in form Co-Si or (Co,Ni)-Si compound. fabricated into foils thickness 100 μm rapid solidification technique. Cf/SiC-Cf/SiC joints SiCf/SiC-SiCf/SiC were produced using foil 1553 10 min. bend strength brazed double-layer is 21.3 MPa tested room temperature, whereas maximum single-layer reaches 30.8 MPa.
