Improving alcohol and tobacco history taking by junior medical officers.

摘要: Aims: We aimed to determine the effectiveness of individual feedback and group in improving recording, assessment, management risky alcohol use tobacco smoking by Junior Medical Officers (JMOs). Method: records patients admitted JMOs were examined for recording use, withdrawal, intervention alcohol, a consultation with Drug Alcohol team, prescription nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). In year 1, from hospital 1 received printed on their own group's performance, while at 2 attended presentation feedback. The following year, they reversed roles. Results: A total 3025 patient 130 JMOs. After feedback, percentage histories that quantified rose significantly, 69% 82%. More smokers detected, NRT prescribing rates significantly. Group showed no change. Logistic regression significantly more likely record an history if located smaller first practice, was during business hours, male, and/or younger than median age 70 years; quantify consumption after but this had effect recording. Conclusion: Our study suggests performance education about desired standards is effective quality Officers.
