摘要: To the Editor:Although it is a major factor affecting qual-ity of life in end stage renal disease (ESRD), sexualdysfunction receives very limited attention fol-low up dialysis patients (1). Successful dialysisimproves most symptoms ESRD, yet many pa-tients continue to experience forms during treatment (2). Sexu-ality was fifth important stressor citedby 135 study quality-of-lifeissues (3). More than half suffering fromESRD and receiving describesexual dysfunction, commonly loss inter-est sexual activity (1,4). Despite importanceof these issues, only 25 % discuss sexualfunction with their physicians Moreover, hasbeen noted that lack knowledge about sexuality,conservative attitudes toward sexuality, anxi-ety when discussing concerns are widespreadamong health care providers (5).Sexual dysfunction addresses alterations re-lated drive, arousal, penile erection/vaginal lu-brication, ability reach orgasm satisfactionwith (6); all affected by ESRD. A ques-tionnaire given revealed 65% were dissatisfied sex since starting dialysis,40% have stopped having sex, 27 no desirefor 23 reported they could not achieveorgasm There known single cause for thesechanges, but there several physical psycho-logical factors thought contribute them.Stress, depression anxiety due kidney diseaseand may affect patients’ desire andability enjoy (4). Other in-fluence patient’s interest include medica-tions, diet, anemia, sleep, inadequate dialy-sis, uremia changes hormone balance (1,3,7).Complaints reduction libido, impotenceand marked frequency re-lations been more 50% maleESRD (7). Proposed causesexual male ure-mia, decreased blood supply, hormonal dis-turbances, low hematocrit level, drugs such as beta-blockers, fatigue, psychological problems asdepression anxiety, difficulties part-ner (1,2,8).In comparison males, dysfunctionis common healthy females well fe-males on comparing func-tion before after insufficiency found thatthe percentage who completely abstainedfrom intercourse increased from 9 40%.Among continued tohave activities, anorgasmic in-creased 31% (8,9).
