摘要: We consider the question of which quantitative modelling tools can be used to support an ecosystem approach management (EAM), with a focus on evaluating implication decisions biological system being managed. Managers federal fisheries in eastern Bering Sea, USA, have adopted EAM. The EAM Sea serve as guide what types models could elsewhere. A review role natural science implementation shows that scientific advice enters into decision-making at variety steps. Single-species stock assessment and projection are most commonly employed inform managers. Comprehensive assessments (e.g. strategy evaluation) emerging new potentially valuable analysis technique for use assessing trade-offs different strategic alternatives. In case end-to-end coupled biophysical been primarily advance understanding, but not applied context. This highlights environment such requires substantial commitments collection data group analysts interdisciplinary training population dynamics, oceanography ecology. supports growing recognition diverse suite is needed address tactical issues germane adoption management.
