Ergometrine 0.5 mg, with a method 'physiological' management, in at 'low risk' haemorrhage. In "active" group higher incidence following complications found:- manual removal placenta (p less than 0.0005), problems such as nausea vomiting and severe after-birth pains 0.02), hypertension 0.0001) secondary postpartum haemorrhage 0.02). The (blood loss greater 500 ml) postnatal haemoglobins 10 gm/100 were 0.0005, p 0.002). No difference found need for blood transfusion either group. routine use mg during labour does not appear be necessary has many adverse effects. Further studies comparing different methods are recommended order reduce minimum anaemia.
