摘要: Environmental and geochemical systems containing paramagnetic species could benefit by using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy due to the sensitivity of spectral response small amounts interactions. In this study, we apply commonly used solid-state NMR spectroscopic methods combined with chemometrics analysis probe sorption behavior cations Cu 2+ Ni at amorphous silica surface. We exploit unique properties paramagnets derive meaningful structural information in these low, environmentally relevant cation surface loadings comparing samples free samples. These data suggest that a simple model where sorbs as inner sphere complexes negatively charged, deprotonated silanol sites is appropriate. results help constrain models are describe metal fate transport.
