摘要: Although functional replacement of the heart and lungs by a pump oxygenator is widespread surgical procedure, no widely accepted technique for describing gas exchange in oxygenators exists. In this study, eight types commercially available membrane (two flat sheet membrane, four hollow fibre two blood membrane) have been studied during clinical cardiopulmonary bypass. O2 transfer increased with flow rate but at given was lower than that obtained manufacturers laboratory studies. Overall coefficients were calculated from ratio to an difference expressed either as partial pressure or concentration. Specific (overall coefficient divided area) similar configuration. The membranes had significantly (P<0.01) specific coefficients. This study shows characteristics can be environment related design features.
