Material-dependent Variations of Alignment in Beam-Foil Excitation

摘要: We have measured the linear polarization fractions of 2s1S-3p1P He I transition at 5 016 ? excited by passage helium ions through thin perpendicular foils beam energies 40 to 220 keV. Metallic such as Au and Ag show less than carbon, while non-conducting SiO2 produce increased polarization. Time variations that build-up impurities on final surface yields carbon-foil like polarizations. At higher 0.6 1.0 MeV, all for neon transitions, but decreased II transitions with respect carbon foil values.
