摘要: The glycolethers 2-methoxyethanol (2-ME), 2-ethoxyethanol (2-EE), and 2-butoxyethanol (2-BE) are used as solvents have teratogenic, spermatotoxic, hematotoxic effects. These oxidized to their corresponding alkoxyacetic acids, probably by alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) aldehyde (ALDH). This metabolic conversion of the is a prerequisite for development toxicity, toxic effects been shown be due acid metabolites. Three isoenzymes ADH detected in rat tissues. liver contains two these isoenzymes, ADH-2 ADH-3. It has also that activity level strongly sex dependent, with higher females than males. In present study, we investigated whether one or both male female livers were able oxidize 2-ME, 2-EE, 2-BE 2-pentyloxyethanol 2-hexyloxyethanol. Our results indicated only ADH-3 isoenzyme effectively liver. Both medium chain aliphatic alcohols length glycolethers. However, it was same (ADH-3) different tested livers, substrate specificity > 2-EE 2-ME.
