摘要: In ecology, there have been attempts to establish links between the relative species abundance (RSA), fraction of in a community with given abundance, and power-law form area relationship (SAR), dependence richness on sampling area. However SAR other patterns ecology often do not exhibit behavior over an appreciable range scales. This raises question whether scaling framework can be applied when system under analysis does behavior. Here, we derive general finite-size applicable such systems that used identify incipient critical scale RSA SAR. We confirm generality our theory by using data from serpentine grassland plot, which exhibits SAR, Barro Colorado Island plot Panama, whose shows deviations at every scale. Our results demonstrate provides model-independent for analyzing unifying ecological that, despite absence power laws, ecosystems are poised vicinity point.
