摘要: ABSTRACT This study aimed to identify a suitable nonpathogenic surrogate for industrial validation of irradiation process by high-energy electron beam (5 MeV) dried seeds. Pumpkin seeds (Cucurbita pepo var. styriaca) and golden flax (Linum usitatissimum) were contaminated with five-strain Salmonella cocktail comprising five serovars or two-strain Escherichia coli pathogenic strains, including E. O157:H7. Comparison log survival fractions the cocktails revealed that on both types seeds, exhibited higher tolerance against at doses 4 kGy than cocktail, fraction -4.1 ± 0.7 compared -6.0 0.2 pumpkin -4.7 reduction from 1.8 × 108 CFU/g below limit detection (1 102 CFU/g) For selection, strains DSM 18039 (strain MG1655) Enterococcus faecium NCCB 86023 NRRL B-2354) subjected processing 2 6 kGy. The calculated D10-values not significantly different (P > 0.05) those 18039, i.e., 1.07 0.10 1.20 0.07 0.88 0.04 0.03 (3.07 0.18 kGy) (2.22 0.29 kGy), ∼3 respectively. Hence, is suggested serve as in trials. Because showed this strain could control indicator decontamination beam. HIGHLIGHTS
