摘要: The prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in squamous cell carcinoma unknown primary the head and neck (SCCUPHN), prognosis by HPV status SCCUPHN patients has been difficult to estimate because rarity this subtype. In MEDLINE, Epub Ahead Print, In-Process & Other Non-Indexed Citations, EMBASE, Cochrane library Web Science searches, observational studies clinical trials that reported survival rates with were identified. Meta-analysis estimated (overall survival, OS; progression-free PFS) status, compared them oropharyngeal (OPSCC) from same institutions across continents. 17 (n = 1,149) institution-matched OPSCC (n = 6,522), pooled was 49%, which only 10% (95%CI: 1-19%) lower than underlying population. Estimated 5-year OS for HPV-negative 44% 36-51%) vs. HPV-positive 91% 86-96%); hazard ratio (HR) 3.25 2.45-4.31) PFS 4.49 2.88-7.02). HRs similar SCCUPHN. While North American SCCUPHNs had higher European (OR = 2.68 1.3-5.6)), HR both continents (HRs 3.78-4.09). Prevalence among OPSCC. benefit conferred being as OPSCCs, independent continent.
