摘要: Donor-derived transmission of Trypanosoma cruzi, the etiologic agent Chagas disease, has emerged as an issue in United States over past 10 years. Acute T. cruzi infection causes substantial morbidity and mortality posttransplant setting if not recognized treated early. We assembled a working group transplant infectious disease specialists, laboratory medicine organ procurement organization representatives epidemiologists with expertise disease. Based on review published unpublished data, prepared evidence-based recommendations for donor screening, follow-up testing treatment recipients organs from infected donors. advise targeted screening potential donors born Mexico, Central America South America. Programs can consider transplantation kidneys livers cruzi-infected informed consent recipients. However, we recommend against heart For other organs, caution based anticipated degree immunosuppression. Our stress need systematic monitoring by polymerase chain reaction, microscopy buffy coat advance planning immediate antitrypanosomal recipient is detected. Data management outcomes all cases should be collected to inform future guidelines assist coordination public health authorities.
