摘要: A 1-year study was undertaken investigating all sports injuries at a large high school. total of 1283 student athletes participated in and suffered 280 for an overall injury rate 22%. The largest football (61%) followed by girls boys gymnastics, wrestling, basketball. Five had no injuries--boys' tennis, golf, boys' girls' swimming, water polo. Severity measured number days lost per injury. Girls' track the greatest (320) basketball, cross country, track, wrestling. Sprains strains accounted 57% injuries. Of injured athletes, 87 were seen physician only 5 required surgery. small serious requiring surgery suggests that motivated competent pediatrician can play integral role as team physician.
