Working it: the professionalization of amateurism in digital adult entertainment

摘要: AbstractThis article examines a sector of professional amateur work for women in the digital industry adult entertainment known as “adult webcam modeling” (AWM). Through selection narratives, this paper explores gendered meanings AWM and values derive from their “amateur” sexual content creation. I draw particular attention to complex union roles relations strategies adopt succeed these spaces. On one level, they describe technical skills institutionalized knowledge needed successfully perform professionalized duties hosting animating site users’ emotional fantasies.
