摘要: Aims/Introduction: High fat diet (HFD) is known to be a risk for development of type 2 diabetes. It unclear, however, how it affects the glucose tolerance or islet structure in The aim this study is: (i) examine effects HFD on GK rats, non-obese diabetic model; and (ii) explore if pitavastatin treatment influences change. Materials Methods: To see changes diabetes, 4-week old male Wistar rats were fed 16 weeks subjected tests pathological studies islet. (3 mg/kg/day 16 weeks, oral), one lipophilc statins, also examined both Wistrar with without HFD. Results: induced hyperlipidemia aggravated intolerance rats. Pitavastatin did not influence HFD-fed animals. caused an increase hepatic lipid contents all animals, which was partially suppressed by treatment. showed reduced β-cell mass, fibrosis macrophage migration islets. feeding augmented these associated enhanced expression 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine apoptotic cells. improved HFD-induced pathology, pancreatic insulin paralleled structural changes. Conclusions: worsened pathology (J Diabetes Invest, doi: 10.1111/j.2040-1124.2011.00173.x, 2011)
