摘要: Abstract The effectiveness of trapping stoats (Mustela erminea) using different bait types, tunnel designs, and trap positions was investigated during following stoat population irruptions in Eglinton Valley, Fiordland, Hawdon near Arthur's Pass, the summers 1990/91, 1991/92, 1992/93. Each summer, baits were used. Comparisons made between broken, whole hard boiled eggs, tinned cat food, possum flesh, dead mice, synthetic lures based on anal sac secretions mustelids. Broken eggs most effective practical lures. Tunnels with partially camouflaged traps no more than those wooden bases visible traps, which are faster easier to check field. Single‐entrance tunnels caught about as many traditional double‐ended ones. More stoats, especially males, at edges a grid within it.
