摘要: Marine organisms produce an array of biologically active natural products, many which have unique structures that not been found in terrestrial organisms. Hence, marine algae provide a source bioactive compounds. The present study investigated 19 and one seagrass collected from Torquay beach, Victoria, Australia. High-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) hyphenated with microchemical (DPPH•, p-anisaldehyde, Fast Blue B) biochemical (α-amylase acetylcholine esterase (AChE) enzymatic) derivatizations was used to evaluate antioxidant activity, presence phytosterols phenolic lipids, α-amylase AChE inhibitory activities extract components. Significant were observed samples 2, 6, 8 10. Antioxidant the be correlated phytosterol content (R2 = 0.78), but related either or activities. α-Amylase inhibition 0.77) attributed content, based on similar peak position chromatograms β-sitosterol chromatogram. Samples 1, 8, especially sample 20, contain lipids (alkyl resorcinol derivatives) significant results suggest these species number compounds warrant further investigation.
