摘要: Reported increases in the incidence of CNS tumours developed world 1970s to 1990s have been a cause for concern and debate. It still remains be adequately answered whether these are true or an artefact changes diagnostic registration practices. Using high-quality national cancer data, we analysed trends each major histological subgroup tumour (2000 World Health Organisation (WHO) classification) registered those aged 0-84 years whole England during period 1979 through 2003. 134,509 primary malignant, benign uncertain behaviour located brain, meninges, spinal cord, cranial nerves, other parts central nervous system pituitary pineal glands were registered. In summary, present single largest nationwide study on longitudinal tumours. The increase observed 1980s was mainly young elderly has now plateaued may even decreasing. There is however variation by histology. some sub-groups continued until most recent analysis. Much initial can attributed emergence much more widely available neuroimaging, while specific appear due greater specificity leading shift categories. However, high-grade astrocytomas gliomas need further observation investigation.
