摘要: All 102 nurses known to be practising as practice in the Republic of Ireland were sent a questionnaire for completion anonymously. A response rate 56% was obtained. Over half respondents had commenced nursing since new General Medical Services contract 1989 following career break, median duration which 5.5 years. Two thirds completed midwifery training but only one qualified Public Health Nurse. An examination tasks performed by suggests that Irish are already filling an extended role beyond their treatment room duties with 46% involved smoking counselling, 74% counselling on cholesterol and 37% asthma care. Nurses providing antenatal care or taking cervical smears not, however, more likely have training.
