摘要: Ixodes pacificus, particularly the nymphal life stage, is primary vector to humans of Lyme disease agent Borrelia burgdorferi in California. During 2004, we collected I. pacificus nymphs from 78 woodland sites ecologically diverse Mendocino County, which has a moderately high incidence disease. Within this county, density was elevated forested areas with growing degree day range 2,600-3,000 (10°C base). Using geographic information systems approach, identified all California sharing these environmental character- istics and thus projected pose acarologic risk exposure host-seeking ticks. Such were most commonly detected northwestern part state along Sierra Nevada foothills northeast, but analysis also isolated southern This mirrors spatial distribution endemic during 1993-2005; cases occurred counties northwest (58%) or northeast (26%), whereas fewer reported (16%). Southern zip-codes had been located close proximity risk. Overall, zip code containing habitat 10-fold higher than lacking such 27 times for without type within 50 km. A comparison patterns based on county versus units showed that calculating displaying at scale useful method detect small, otherwise may go undetected.
