摘要: This is the first report of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in rodents from San Luis Obispo county, with most isolates obtained a previously unreported host, Neotoma lepida Thomas. B. was identified seven rodent species, including California vole, Microtus californicus Peale; dusky-footed woodrat, fuscipes Baird; desert Thomas; brush mouse, Peromyscus boylii Gambel; deer maniculatus Wagner; and western harvest Reithrodontomys megalotis Baird. Ear punch biopsies were cultured BSK-H medium 179 trapped at six different study sites. Overall, prevalence infection 44/179 (24.6%), 34 these N. lepida. Spirochete all sites, indicating widespread across species habitats. Nucleotide sequences for 14 have been submitted to GenBank. Isolates three one P. had identical flagellin gene sequences, phylogenetic analysis placed spirochetes group DN127, now known as bissettii Postic, Marti Ras, Lane, Hendson & Baranton. Additional sequencing intergenic spacer regions between 5S 23S ribosomal genes performed on isolates. Phylogenetic separated into two clusters that grouped Colorado or The role related other than stricto Johnson, Schmid, Hyde, Steigerwalt Brenner human pathogens United States warrants further investigation.
