摘要: Given the considerable popularity of community-based wildlife management as a conservation tool, it is interest to assess long-run sustainability this policy not only in terms, but also financial terms. In paper, we use cost–benefit analysis study social and large set community conservancies Namibia, one few countries where policies have been place long enough their long-term viability. We find that, although generally good, problematic – especially for younger conservancies: there no real link between achievements success. This calls into question many these if they are unable generate revenue pay running expenditure, will eventually fail even successful from point view. Similar problems, linked way which external funders pushed additional be established regardless considerations, likely present other that implemented such programmes.
