摘要: The method presented in the companion paper is applied herein to analyze nonlinear earthquake response of an earth dam; entire time history quantities, including permanent deformation dam, are calculated. Two different input ground motion cases considered: a moderate and strong shaking with very frequency characteristics. Comparative studies conducted examine influence two-dimensionality, nonlinearity, nonhomogeneity, modal expansion, coupling, multidimensional stress interaction on response. results also compared those obtained by elaborate finite element analysis. comparative study reveals significant differences between one- two-dimensional analyses, homogeneous nonhomogeneous models, shakings, multi-mode solution expansions. In addition, comparison indicates that simplified proposed can be used realiably estimate dams modeled as 2-D shear wedges.
