摘要: Historical (or legacy) contaminants, such as metals and persistent organic pollutants (POPs; e.g., polychlorinated biphenyls) have been measured in circumpolar subpopulations of polar bears, especially from Hudson Bay, East Greenland, Svalbard, but substantially less is currently known about new and/or emerging contaminants naphthalenes, current-use pesticides, organotins, polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs). The bear (Ursus maritimus) an apex Arctic predator that accumulates high levels bioaccumulative POPs mercury (Hg), there no comprehensive profiling the present knowledge on tissue body compartments bears. Based current literature reports data, including archived museum samples (as far back 1300s) up to 2018, aim this review utilize available data examine comparative distribution burden mainly lipophilic kidney, liver, fat, other compartments, milk, blood, brain. Highlight outcomes include following: (1) kidneys are one most important depots bears; (2) a critical lack concerning presence concern (other than Hg); (3) concentrations many newer PACs, which relevant given increasing oil gas development regions, Beaufort Sea (Canada). Additionally, vulnerability populations worldwide, need develop non-invasive approaches monitor contaminant exposure
