摘要: According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, “The death rate for oral cancer is higher than that of cancers which we hear about routinely.” In America, number diagnosed cases approximately 54,000 individuals. WHO best estimate worldwide well over 450,000 new being found each year. considered extremely dangerous two reasons: (1) typically early stages go unnoticed by patient because no pain signs or recognizable symptoms and (2) high risk producing second, primary tumors. There are several types cancers, but around 90% squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC). The condition very taxing any healthcare system. For instance, $3.2 billion spent in USA alone. Therefore, full comprehension disease overriding order design effective modalities. This can be accomplished only advancing our understanding at molecular level. this chapter, will focus on most important common genetic alterations genomic, epigenetic, transcriptomic levels study changes tumor suppressor genes (TSGs), oncogenes, gene expression, epigenetic genomic instability, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations, noncoding RNA, loss heterozygosity (LOH) OSCC. It not intent chapter provide detailed information review literature. Rather, effort directed highlight either latest advancements, collective understanding, salient features We conclude with viewpoint importance further research (disease models, targeted therapy, treatment), value biomarkers detection, education/public awareness.
