摘要: Abstract 1. The administration of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe) to rats caused an increase in 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and its metabolite 5-hydroxyindolacetic acid (5-HIAA) some regions the rat brain. 2. 5-HT turnover rate, determined by steady state kinetic method, was higher receiving repeated administrations SAMe. 3. SAMe enhanced 5-HIAA which follows reserpine treatment. 4. hypothesis that effect on serotonergic system may be secondary brain melatonin is discussed.
