摘要: BACKGROUND Radiologic Diagnostic Oncology Group 5 is a multicenter clinical trial designed to evaluate fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of nonpalpable breast lesions performed by multiple operators using the same protocol. METHODS Four hundred and nineteen women with mammographically detected were enrolled on at 18 institutions. A institutions randomized stereotactically guided FNA (SFNA) followed core needle biopsy (SCNB), or SCNB only. B SFNA SCNB, ultrasonographically (USCNB), USCNB total 377 eligible for analysis. RESULTS FNA yielded 128 insufficient samples patients (33.95%; 95% confidence interval, 29.2-38.7%). The rate varied type lesion calcified associated significantly higher sampling than masses (P < 0.001). radiologist's level suspicion was not statistically significant predictor mass lesions, but lesions. For 336 which histologic information available, occurred in more benign malignant lesions. CONCLUSIONS The high this makes its use impractical setting. Because factor, study terminated early.
