Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping (IABP) at Different Levels of Experimental Acute Left Ventricular Failure

摘要: Effectiveness of infra-aortic balloon pumping (IABP) as a circulatory assist device was experimentally evaluated in eight groups dogs at various stages the sequence: coronary occlusion—myocardial infarction—acute left ventricular failure—coronary shock. When instituted during period reversibility myocardial ischemic changes produced by ligation, IABP unproved collateral flow, limited extent necrosis and prevented development failure. following acute failure, “assisted” ventricle, evidenced improvement dimensions, pressures, flows, systemic metabolic parameters. stage shock, had only slight transient effects. Problems related to use were studied. Lack 100 percent fail-safe viewed main deterrent, present time, clinical application.
