摘要: BACKGROUND For rectal carcinoma, the presence of tumour within 1 mm circumferential margin is an important independent prognostic factor for both local recurrence and survival. Similar prospective data have not been reported oesophageal carcinoma we wished to ascertain importance this variable following potentially curative resection carcinoma. AIM To prospectively assess impact involvement (tumour mm) PATIENTS AND METHODS In a study, specimens 135 patients treated with alone were studied (margin positive), using inked margins cross sectional slicing specimen. All tumours also staged 1987 UICC TNM classification. Patients followed mean 19 months, overall cancer specific survival analysed. RESULTS The finding cells (CRM+) was significant predictor resection. Overall, 64 (47%) CRM+. Median in group 21 months compared 39 CRM− (p=0.015). CRM status on only seen low nodal metastatic burden ( CONCLUSIONS should be routinely.
