摘要: Abstract An efficient solid Lewis acid, has been synthesized by loading cerium triflate (7 wt%) on the acid activated fly ash with high silica content (81%). The physico-chemical properties of ash-supported catalyst (CFT) were monitored XRD, FT-IR spectroscopy, spectroscopy ammonia adsorbed catalyst, SEM-EDAX, TEM, Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and TG-DTA study. increased concentration surface hydroxyl groups have a major influence triflate. catalytic activity CFT was tested in acylation veratrole using acetic anhydride as acylating agent. proposed model structure shows that species withdraws electron density from making it deficit generate acidity confirmed NH3 spectrum. data indicate this heterogeneous is very active, corresponding to conversion (88%) 3,4-dimethoxyacetophenone. could be easily recovered reused giving similar up three reaction cycles indicating its stability under experimental conditions. Thus novel promising way bulk utilization waste developing cost effective system for industrially important Friedel–Crafts reactions.
